Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is a British-American musician and sitarist. She was first in her age group to be a member of the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Sitar Shankar is an Indian young sitar singer. She is Ravi Shankar's pupil as well as his daughter of Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was in London in 1982, and began her life by hopping back and forth to London and New Delhi. When she was only 13 the first time she performed in New Delhi took place. Later she moved in Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha is yet to be a mature woman however she's got an impressive career in music and performance. Her father was with her in many performances for some time. In 1998 she released her first solo album Anourag. In 2002, she debuted her Grammy Nominated Live At Carnegie Hall. Stage performances are a important aspect of her life. She's played in many famous venues around the globe. Her career doesn't just include the world of music. She also published Bapi the Heart of My Life, in the year 2002. The book is a biography which pays tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. In addition, she acted in a film in 2003. The role she played was that of an Bharat natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging celebrity and her popularity will keep on growing. Anoushka lived a long time between London and Delhi in her early years. Later, she moved to California to attend high school. From the age of nine she began her studies in music under her father making her performing first on the sitar four years later at his 75th birthday celebration in Delhi. Anoushka, who accompanied her father during his world tour, gained a remarkable number of experiences. In her teenage years she played at Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD as well as recorded with George Harrison. She was the youngest woman to receive the House of Commons Shield, awarded by British Parliament in recognition of her talent and musicianship in performing in the Asian Arts.
